Thunder and lightning and things that go bump in the night...

It was one of those nights where none of us was getting much sleep. Thunder and lightning pretty much all through the night. Two of my three dogs are wozzes about that, so one is hiding under under the bed, the lab wants to climb in bed with me, and the third is oblivious (she's pretty deaf).

So rather than cuddling up with a shivering hyper dog with pretty good sized nails on her paws, I decided to make myself some tea, get my computer, and do some research. And a big doggie bed right next to me to give comfort to the big yellow dog. When she wouldn't settle down, we mutually decided to go for a walk outside in our big garden when the rain became a drizzle, but with lightning still all around, And my dog actually settled down afterwards, probably getting comfort to having met the "boogieman" outside and it was no big deal.

MAYBE THAT'S A GOOD LESSON FOR ALL OF US: FACE THE BOOGIEMAN, WHATEVER IT IS, HEAD-ON.

Hella - I did not know you had three dogs.  You must have to go for walks every day, whether you want to or not!

Debbie: It was pretty spectacular for a couple of days. Today it's beautiful and time to do some more chores outside.

Gail: Yes, these are my three. I have a great big yard and a forest area, all fenced, and we take walks there. We have a lot of wildlife here and this is a layer of protection. Not that a bear can't can't over it, but they have no reason to. Ditto the deer. Foxes, no problem. We even have an area where I hit a tennis ball so the lab gets enough exercise. Problem is, she pretends to forget we've already done that ealier, and she's always ready to go again. Rain doesn't bother her, in fact, she jumps gleefully into our little creeks during the rainy season. I used to take her to the Smith River to swim, but when it starts raining, it flows much too fast, she'd be carried downstream over rocks. Check out some photos I took in our area on www.smithrivercalifornia.com
