Towers on Capitol Mall: Construction on Hold

Sacramento is the last major West Coast city to make high-rise living a part of the plan. Years of taking seemingly limitless farmland for granted has left the city a sprawling traffic-jam. The first major high-rise project to take shape in this new era of urban living is John Saca's project, the Towers on Capitol Mall.

Two 53-story residential towers--including an InterContinental hotel--have been in the works at the gateway to Sacramento from the west on the Tower Bridge as it opens up to Capitol Mall.

But recently the developer has encountered issues with financing and construction has been halted as little more than pile work has been done.
