Local Real Estate magazines vs. Radio ?

I have been in Real Estate now for years. Well long enough to start getting GRAY HAIR. LOL.

I tried advertizing in the local magazines. Spent alot of money with only a few calls. My ads ranged from single property profiles to a newsletter type print ads. I even had other Realtors ask if they could use my format. The funny thing was they were the only calls I was getting. LMAO. True story.

So I have been thinking about some radio ads.  Have anybody used them? Did you get the expected response?

We have to stay out in front of potential buyers and sellers. I don't want to spend 100's or 1,000's of dollars for nothing.

What have you seen that works?

An ad doesn't wrok as well as a radio show. You can listen to ours on our web site . We are on 2 radio stations. One is in Georgia and is ours. The other is in Florida and we do a mountain segment. We get about 30 percent of our busines from the radio. It is very econic as well

I tried Radio for 2 months.  My ad was on 4 times a day 7 days a week during AM rush hour, noon, PM rush hour and 7 PM.  Not a single call.  Save the radio money and put it towards internet advertising.

Ken,

I read your blog with interest.  I am a builder!  I use the net for searches.  Magazines are something I would have to drive to get, but the net is right there at my computor.  I also listen to the radio when working.  I usually listen to the Rush Limbaugh show, and light rock.  I am 49 years old.  I Hope that helps.

I believe Internet is the way to go. Everything else is secondary, but not to say not ineffective.

I agree with Charlie: Radio is better done as a show that can posted as a podcast.

I was talking with a Radio advertising agent.

She is nice and we are friends.

SHe made some good points.

When you hear something on the radio it doesn't make you jot it down for later reference. It puts the name in your head. Then when you see an ad it looks familiar to you. So cable ads, radio ads and print ads along with internet need to work in unison.  That way you brand yourself. If people look in the phone book at the 100's of Realtors in there your name might just look familiar..

That could be all it takes.

That was her take. I like a saleperson that can close. Smile
