Klyde Warren Park opens this weekend, Saturday, October 27, 2012, in Dallas. This 5.2 acre park spans the 8 lane Woodall Rodgers Freeway and connects the Dallas Arts District to Uptown.
Three hundred twenty-two (322) trees have been planted on the Klyde Warren Park grounds.The trees are planted in 4 feet of soil.Keeping in mind our windy North Texas weather, the trees are anchored with cables and concrete to ensure that they remain in their original location. Styrofoam was placed under the soil to insulate and protect the roots of the mostly native trees from the North Texas heat and the heat produced from the pavement and traffic seventeen (17) feet below the park.
Klyde Warren Park features a children's play area, botanical garden, pavilion for entertainment, a dog park and much more.
The ribbon cutting for Klyde Warren Park will take place at 10:15, on Saturday morning.
Owen Wilson is the honorary chair of the Klyde Warren Park Grand Opening Festivities held throughout the weekend. He will attend a screening of the movie "Midnight in Paris" at 7:45 Sunday night.
The Nasher Sculpture Center and the Dallas Museum of Art are offering free admission this weekend to celebrate the opening ofthe Klyde Warren Park. Both museums will sponsoractivities for visitors to the Dallas Arts District.
