The one constant in life is change.

Like the old saying goes, “the one constant we have in life is change.” Old Anonymous Unknown was pretty smart, I say. Someday’s the passage of time is a joy because we’re closer to what we desire, yet other days it appears relentless, a marathon, and we dread tomorrow. Either way, it arrives...

In my industry, title and escrow, it’s predominantly women. I’m so fortunate to work with many I sincerely consider outstanding professionals and also great human beings. They’re smart, creative, hard working with a keen sense of humor, and rarely if ever shy away from a challenge. Their abilities at juggling work, family, and community are impressive.

Most of them have kids and several have teenagers. I love the stories. Case in point, one 16 year old son is super smart and a wiz at computer graphic design, yet bored with school he was tuning out and neglecting his studies. Mom came up with the perfect incentive I think. She bought him a pickup truck. It’s parked in the driveway. He’ll be able to get his license and drive it when his grades are kept up at the promised level. Guess who’s grades have made a miraculous recovery?

Another Rep has a daughter and she shares some of her artwork on Facebook. She’s brilliant and not just as a kid. Her work is outstanding. That talent got her accepted to a college level summer study this year. At 17, still in highschool, she was the youngest in attendance. Another has a 15 year old son who is a Google Master. This teen embraced search and with his thirst for knowledge has developed a rather sophisticated intellect and philosophy about the hi-tech world he lives in. He’s already more savvy and mature about the online medium than most ‘geeks’ I know. And he checks his facts!

Lastly, a story about the daughter in middle school last week. A classmate just moved here from another country and hardly speaks English, let alone read it. The teacher is giving a lecture and she see’s these two huddled around a laptop towards the back of the room and comes back to see what’s going on. The daughter, on her own initiative, is typing the teacher’s talk in real time on Google Docs and running the translator so the new girl can read it in her native language to keep up!

I hear stories like these everyday. I think about these creative ingenious kids especially when I’m teaching a social media class to the middle agers. If these mom’s are bragging they have every right. Like my own kids, they kindle my faith and the future certainly looks more promising than any stump speech or political debate I’ve heard recently. Just sayin’...

As the Hopi legend goes... “we are the people we've been waiting for.”

And here they are!

We’re all born into our time for a reason and the solutions our world needs will soon enough be in their hands. I favor the future I see through these bright young eyes and remember time, that constant changing thing that always continues regardless if I see it through joy or dread.

More than anything I wish them a life of joy! It’s way more fun!

Which reminds me...

“I never let my schooling get in the way of my education.”
~ Mark Twain

And....

“The future ain't what it used to be.”
~ Yogi Berra

Rene' how true "change is always the constant" at the same time change is good when you make it, but it is debilitating when it is done to you! BTW I also wanted to congratulate you for the Featured Post!
