Halloween Activities in Red River, NM

There are so many good reasons to live in a small town and all the Halloween festivities this week just reinforces that.  Being in such a small remote area, our kids go to various schools in the Enchanted Circle.  There were Fall Festivals on both Friday and Saturday night along with an adult Halloween party on Saturday.  Probably the most unique activity is the opportunity for all the kids to board our local town buses and go group trick or treating.  The local businesses sign up to be on the Halloween route and the bus stops at all the businesses and some homes.  This goes on from 3:30 until 5:30.  It is so much fun to watch all the kids, about 75 in all, come off the busses in their various costumes.  Each bus has it's own police escort to insure the kids all stay safe.  We are a resort town and typically host between 2500-5000 people during season.  This is a perfect opportunity for the 450 locals to really enjoy the area.

Wow -- nice Halloween post... I'm not sure if Halloween will have to be postponed here in NH.  We will see what Sandy brings our way.
