Happy Anniversary!

It’s been a year in our “new to us” home. So many things have changed; the color of the living room, the hideous wallpaper in the basement and the mounds of weeds throughout every flowerbed. The lovely thing about all the change is each step we take makes memories in our family and changes this place from home to our home. All the work put into the gardens is not a fond memory but listening to the kiddos running in the sprinkler while marking off items on the to-do list is something I’ll look forward to doing again next year.

I’m excited to look back on the photos over the last year and say “Oh, I forgot that looked that way…” or “Ick, that dingy wallpaper matches the un-showered mother, who took that picture?!” We still have projects to finish and will probably always have more to start later. The formation of the bathroom in the basement has proved to be a bit stressful but I know will be amazing when finished. We’ve been doing a lot of projects ourselves instead of hiring out to save money and have a bit more pride in ownership. Hopefully that all works out in our favor and we don’t end up on America’s Funniest Home Videos… Or the news.

We’ll be starting our second year in our home just in time for trick or treating again and hopefully this year will have a better idea of which houses to hit first and who gives out the best candy. It doesn’t seem as foreign this year to walk around the neighborhood. Last year I had to pay special attention to street signs to make sure we made it home. As we approached our house towards the end of the night I didn’t even realize I was looking into my own backyard. Happy Anniversary (1 Year)!!
