The Regent Park Aquatic Centre finally opened its doors yesterday to the public. Toronto and area residents can now enjoy the brand new facility that sits adjacent to the 6-acre Central Park due to complete next year. The location of the park, pool, and recently opened Arts and Cultural Centre [the Daniels Spectrum] across the street anchors the heart of the Regent Park Revitalization.

The sculptural design by MacLennan Jaunkalns Miller Architects [MJMA] who has been experts in designing Aquatic facilites for over 20 years, created this visually and spatially stunning "Pavilion in the Park". It features a lap pool, warm water pool, and leisure pool, tarzan rope, diving board and water slides, and an outdoor water play area.
Price of admission: $5.50 for families, $3 for adults. There are aquafit classes offered 2 days a week.
I have to say after attending the aquafit classes, this is one of the best pools I have swum in. The therapeutic warm pool is a great way to destress. The universal change rooms work great. A visit to the cafe at the Daniels Spectrum or Paintbox Bistro across the street is a great after-swim hangout for a snack.
