NAPA Know How… NAPA does plumbing? East Wenatchee Home Inspection Services
Okay get the jingle going, N-N-N- Napa know how… Napa know how!!!
You can see the NAPA attendant behind the counter singing his jingle, making you want to run down to your local NAPA dealer and gets some auto parts.
Well here we have that happy go lucky home owner that did just that. Unfortunately Mr. Homeowner does not know that this is an Auto parts store only. Not to be construed with the local box store or plumbing distributer.
Here is a great example of NAPA know how (not to do it right using a radiator). (I know this is an S-trap also ; )

Now this is what I refer to farmer plumbing. Those who live in rural areas are known for their ability to repurpose items from one thing to another to get it to work. And it is may be a way to fix things temporarily (I may be accused of this from time to time).
If you are going to be selling your home I think it may be wise to correct any “Farmer Plumbing”.
“I never drink water because of the disgusting things that fish do in it.”

Nice post, but now I will have that jingle in my head for three hours.
Wow, you gotta give it to the guy for being inventive...lol. He must have been an auto mechanic!
And like Doug, thanks for putting that jingle in my head!
C'mon you meanie. That is classic stuff! The Smithsonian would be proud!
So, team, let's hear it!
Gimme an L! L!
Gimme a U! U!
Gimme an S! S!
Gimme a T! T!
What do we got?
I said, what do we got?
You're just jealous this guy is so above the rest of us. You included.
You are coveting right now, aren't you?
P.s. I think the jingle goes, N-N-N-Napa know how!
I have to think Napa is enjoying this little boost in product information...
Donald, Playing devil's advocate, what's the downside to this farmer plumbing? Radiator hoses are built for pressure above that of downflow plumbing. If the clamps are tight and there's no leakage, what's the issue? Bill
Doug, That is mean of me ; )
Fred, It was fun.
Jay,I was hoping everyone would of leave the room so I could snag it ; ) P.S. I corrected the jingle ; )
Bill, You are correct it would probably work just fine. Just it is not a listed product for the application. Also we do not know if some stuff that is put down the sink (soaps, cleaners, organics) will react with the rubber. Most likely not. It also may be more prone to some bacterial growth.
I have seen (and done) many "Farmer Repairs" and have them work just fine, and some that did not.
The "letters" in that previous post are each found in that interesting arrangement of pipes!
But you knew that...
Jay, Very cleaver, Was way too early for my brain for that little puzzle, lol.
His problem was going too low end. You don't just grab what ever you have on hand. Not when you're going costom. it has to be all chrome. make that baby shine under the hood sink.
Around here that is referred to as Yankee ingenuity. Same thing, different name.
