If you are looking for affordable real estate on the West Bank of New Orleans, Oak Cove should be on your list of neighborhoods to check out.

Developed in the mid to late 1970s, it offers a variety of ranch floor plans, many of which have been modified by the owners over the years. The neighborhood and landscaping have both matured, so it’s no longer a cookie cutter subdivision, but has taken on the unique characteristics of the various home owners.

Marrero LA neighborhood, Oak Cove subdivision

Located off of Barataria Blvd, south of Lapalco, Oak Cove has some of the most affordable real estate on the West Bank, with home prices ranging from the upper $80s to the low-mid $100s. The neighborhood is just about 100% built out, so resales are the only option for purchasing in the community.

The commute into New Orleans can be made in about 30 minutes and getting to local shopping, restaurants and schools is a breeze. Go just a bit further down the road and in minutes you can visit Jean Lafitte National Park.

Lisa - I expect a neighborhood names oak cove to have a lot of large live oaks somewhere. If it does, the neighborhood is beautiful, if not, I'm disappointed.
