Operation Christmas Child 2012 underway!
I’m so glad that my church- Aloma (Baptist) Church, Winter Park, FL- has once again partnered with Rev. Franklin Graham’s Samaritan’s Purse organization for another year.
Last year, our church had a lofty goal: filling, collecting and sending 1,000 shoeboxes. When all was said and done, our church had collected over 1,300 shoeboxes- and they were on their way to other parts of the world where they were surely going to make a difference in some children’s lives. Some children (such as the one from Haiti in the photo above) might never have gotten a gift prior to the shoebox nor one since- but I’m told there were smiles all around when the shoeboxes arrived.
This year’s goal? More shoeboxes, of course! Our sanctuary was filled with over 1,000 empty shoeboxes this past Sunday morning- yet all were gone by the end of our 2nd service. I don’t even know if we have a numerical goal this year or a certain number we want to fill (or new record we're wanting to set!)- but all are dedicated to giving as much as we can to ensure there’s a little bit of joy in the hearts of these children abroad- and that they come to know the Good News of Jesus Christ. Last day for us to turn in our boxes is 11/18!
