I definitely love this idea that Gene Mundt has for an Active Rain Cookbook...and the proceeds go to a great charity which I volunteer for... Habitat for Humanity!!

YOU and ActiveRain have the Perfect Recipe for Helping Others Enjoy the Upcoming Holidays!

Recently, I wrote  a post regarding a recipe my wife considered life-changing.  The responses I received to that post, got me thinking.   That's always a dangerous thing ...

Well, I decided to take action on my thoughts and fired-off an email to  Kerrie Greenhalgh,  the Community Manager and "Go To" person at  ActiveRain.   Kerrie read my idea, expanded and improved upon it, and wrote me back within minutes of receiving my email.  Stand back, folks!   That woman is action personified!

My suggestion to Kerrie was this ...

Contact Kerrie Greenhalgh at ActiveRain

There are now over 320,000 members on ActiveRain.  That's a HUGE number of people and resource from which to draw upon.  And from the response I received to my recipe post, there's a large percentage of those AR members that LOVE to cook and bake ... and then there’s a large number of us that just LOVE to eat!

My thought was ... why not ask our AR members to submit their favorite recipe?  Why not gather those recipes and make an ActiveRain cookbook ... then make that cookbook available for sale at a very low cost via an eBook?  And then donate the proceeds of the ActiveRain cookbook to a charity for the Holidays?

Like I said, Kerrie was off and running with the idea.  Her response was quick and enthusiastic.  I think it read something like, "We're going to the moon with this idea, Gene ... get ready!"

So I'm calling on all ActiveRain Members:

Search your memories!  Search your cookbooks for your very favorite, #1 recipe.  I'm asking you all to share that recipe with the world ... via the ActiveRain,   "It's RAIN-ing Recipes" Cookbook.  (But be careful with recipe copyright issues!)  We can have up to 100 pages in our eBook!

Please accompany your recipe with a picture (if you choose) in jpg or pdf format, the name of your Dish/Recipe, and short intro (no more than approx. 50 words) giving a little background or history into your recipe.

Submit your recipe, info, and picture to Kerrie's email at ActiveRain,  Subject Line:  Recipe.  Kerrie’s email address is:   kerrie@activerain.com ... All recipe submissions must be to Kerrie no later than 6 pm on:  November 15, 2012.

Here’s an example of how your submission should look:Contact Kerrie Greenhalgh at ActiveRain

Again, the deadline for recipe submission to Kerrie is:  November 15, 2012  ... as we want to have this  "It's RAIN-ing Recipes" Cookbook  available for purchase by December 3rd, in plenty of time for Holiday gift-giving.

In  keeping with our professions and industry, the charity receiving ALL proceeds from the  "It's RAIN-ing Recipes" Cookbook  will be  Habitat for Humanity.  The eBook cookbook will cost:  $5.00

I thank you in advance for your help and participation in this ActiveRain charitable effort.  You just know that Kerrie and everyone else from ActiveRain working on this Cookbook will do a great job.  It will be great fun to see all the recipes and the stories that accompany them.  Also fun to think just who we can give a copy of the Cookbook too for the holidays! This AR Cookbook gives us just one more way to be a solid and giving community ... share ... and to get to know one another better.

Your assistance in helping to spread the word about this AR charitable effort will be greatly appreciated.  Should you have questions regarding this Cookbook, please  contact Kerrie  or myself,  Gene Mundt.

Please be watching for further information about the  "It's RAIN-ing Recipes" Cookbook  in the very near future ... and how and when YOU can buy your eBook copy!  Thank you!
