WE have all noticed that people with some dough are always looking for a good place to invest money for a return. Until the last 3 weeks that has been the stock market for sure. But now with a falling Dow, possible recession looming and plenty of motivated sellers, reasonable interest ratesm and a good selection of WELL PRICED properties we may be poised for a return to real estate as the preferred investment.

With an ever increasing generation of baby boomers who have amassed some savings, (paid off their mortgages or a least whittled them down to size) and have had their kids through school, are poised to help bring our real estate market back to balance. It won't happen ovenight! Nothing in real estate happens overnight. It does seem however that the tide may be about to turn.

There is penty of inventory out there and prices have adjusted in most markets. Interest rates are very good and may even get a little better soon! That sets the stage for a shift in thinking for the opportunity for increased value in property. It may not be in the primary home residentail housing marketat first. It is more likely to be in the vacation home markets and unimproved land markets that we will see the first signs of substantial real estate recovery. You can enjoy that vacation experience and share it with your family and friends. It allows us to escape! We all need that every so often. Maybe it is just purchasing that piece of ground that you will someday make into that retreat you and your family have dreamed about.

Let's watch the vacaton home market over the next year or so and see what happens. For us in a vacation area like North Conway NH in the beautiful White Mountains, we hope I'm right! We have some terrific properies available at this time. Let's see if there are any people with a sour taste for stocks who will take stock in our area. I think the returns will be better and you can get a whole lot more fun in a vacaton home than in watching your portfolio languishing in a difficult stock market.

LET"S GO SKIING !!!!

Skip, I agree. Now is a great time for investors to buy. With prices low, inventory high and rates down, investors need to jump on any great deals available.

I AGREE AND I THINK IT IS STILL A GOOD TIME TO SELL FOR PEOPLE WHO DID NO BUY IN THE PEAK OF THE MARKET. THE PRESS KEEPS REPORTING HOW BAD THE SELLING MARKET IS BUT IT REALLY IS GREAT JUST NOT AS GOOD AS IT WAS IN 2005. I WISH THEY WOULD START TO REPORT HOW MUCH PEOPLE ARE MAKING IF THEY BOUGHT BEFORE 2003  AND SELL NOW, STILL A REALLY BIG RETURN
