Laramie, Wyoming Real Estate: Rentals - The Grove

Laramie's newest large, apartment complex, The Grove:

Laramie Wyoming Rentals

I have to admit I was a bit of a sceptic as I saw construction begin on "The Grove".  It didn't seem that the concept - "fully loaded college living" would appeal to notoriously budget conscience Laramie renters. It seems, though, that they have found their niche and it is reported they are rented to capacity.

Their concept, though pricey, is simple.  Tenants rent rooms that come with their own private bathrooms.  Rooms are in 3 to 4 bedroom apartments and tenants who want to room together may be able to rent in an apartment all together.  If you don't have a roomate then the management will work toward putting tenants in apartments with people whom they can get along with.  If you go to The Grove website, you'll see they do seem to have everything in place for making this concept work.

I haven't heard anything about the individual apartments, but I have heard that the building that houses the common area and other facilities for the renters to use is very upscale and attractive.  So, who knows, maybe The Grove will be a good thing for Laramie, after all.

Like Laramie, Cape Girardeau MO is also a college town. We have a similar complex (at first called Cape Place and now named Cape Trails). Built several years ago, it seems to be fully rented all the time. To me, it is a good go-between for students who want to move out of the dorm but are not ready to take on the responsibility of a house. The apartments are not monitored the way dorms are, and that is both good and bad depending on the residents.

My nephew lived there for a year and was mostly pleased with the arrangement.

Each apartment consists of three or four single occupancy bedrooms with baths, a kitchen area, and a livingroom area.  The common spaces of livingroom and kitchen can, of course, be abused by some of the roommates, or they can serve as wonderful communal areas that foster a sense of family.

That sounds exactly like what they have built here.  It may not be a concept that appeals to older renters or renters with families, perhaps, but they definitely have found a niche they can serve.
