Placerville, CA – We’re Above The Fog

One of the benefits of living in the foothills of the Sierras, is the weather is a bit different then in the Sacramento Valley. We get a little bit of snow, the summers are a little cooler, and in the foggy season we are just above that fog line.

Here is a photo that shows how the fog ends right at Forni Road on Highway 50. The trees are peaking through at the tail end of the fog. There are days when there will be no sunlight all day when Placerville has sunshine from sunrise to sunset.

Don't you love that kind of phenomenon, Tom?  We get waves of fog at the bottom of the mountians during one part of the day, and it is at the top of the mountain at another part of the day.   It makes for a great photo.

Very cool Tom.... While in Alabama I enjoyed the foggy mornings.  We don't have fog here... no moisture.

Hi Tom, I enjoy the fog sometimes as it always seems to be cooler and more moist. Certainly as Mike says, it lends to some great photo ops.

It never gets old Mike. A perfectly clear day here, and just two minutes away, no sign of the sun. the same with the snowline; the snowline is often right at the final exit going up the hill.
