Whew! Hurricane Sandy Blew Our Tree Up!

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with Dagny's Real Estate

Hurricane Sandy certainly blew our tree up in the front of our home.    At first on Monday, October 29th, the back limb crashed across all of our beautiful landscaping in the circle of our driveway.   Eason White Pine down in Hurricane Sandy 2012

Twenty years of moving things around and planting little "babies" to grow to adulthood plants and shrubs - wiped out in one fell blow.   A very strong hurricane blow, mind you!!!

We have been out of power for 5 days, and are thinking of those with no generators and no heat.   It is getting very cold now, and no fireplace can quite do the trick.   Our power has returned, but 60% of Wilton is still without.

I am so sorry you lost your tree!

We here on the Texas Gulf Coast face the treat of hurricanes each year. Trees are really hard hit. Pine trees seem to be the first to go. Imagine a two mile town stretch lined with 40-foot oak trees that were almost 100 years old all knocked down via hurricanes. It is really sad.

I hope you keep warm.

Dagny, happy for you that the power is back so you can stop the gas runs. Now to start trimming those trees so the neighbors don't start to complain

Susie - I cannot imagine losing an entire row of ancient oaks......

Janis - you were hit really hard there in NY also....   We have a generator, so we were warm

Ed - one neighbor is already complaining ... one tree went her way.

William - Thanks!

Valerie - We have a generator, so we didn't need to throw away- had just done a huge Costco run, and filled the freezers, too!

Dagny, Mother Nature just doesn't seem to care about our landscaping plans and plants.  We had a couple of branches snap off this year and once we were lucky and it fell between two groupings, the next time not quite so lucky.  At least it only took a little work with the chainsaw to clean up.  Glad you have your power back, and hopefully they get fully restored before it gets much colder.

Bliz - We lost our power again the next day, and only now have full internet back.    It has been definitely challenging to do our line of work .....
