You don't still smoke, do you?
The Great American Smokeout began in November, 1977 and is now one of the biggest campaigns by the American Cancer Society. to convince people to quit smoking.
You don't want me to list the hazards of smoking, do you? You know all about the nasty smell, the tremendous expense, and the yellow teeth. I'm sure you know about lung cancer, emphysema, chronic obstructive pulmondary disease.
Let today be the first day of whiter teeth, cars that don't stink, and a new lease on life! Better yet, tell all the young people you know not to start smoking!
Tips to Quit:
- Spend a lot of time in smoke free environments where you're not allowed to light up.
- Avoid foods, events, and locations you associate with smoking for at least a few days.
- Hold something in your hand - a pencil, maybe. Occupy your hands.
- Chew gum, suck on lollipops, chew celery. Occupy your mouth.
- Brush your teeth often. Who wants to stink up fresh breath?
- Tell friends that you're quitting - they'll support you and keep you honest.
- Reward yourself. Spend the money you saved on cigarettes on something fun. Jewelry for your wife, perhaps ;).
