I saw this in the grocery store yesterday and, because I'd never heard of them before, I had to have it. . .
Pork Button Bones ? ? ?
Of course, with a recipe to follow on the back of the package, I was good to go!
It started with a dry rub recipe:
1 tablespoon ground ginger
1 tablespoon ground white pepper
1 tablespoon fennel seeds (or anise seeds)
1 tablespoon red pepper flakes
2 teaspoons of ground cinnamon
2 teaspoons of ground cloves
1 teaspoon of kosher salt
Combine all and then rub the mixture all over the button bones.
(I let mine sit for 2 hours to let the flavours meld)
I pre-heated the oven to 375 degrees
Poured 1/2 inch of boiling water into the bottom of the pan, covered it with foil and then cooked the Button Bones in the oven for 1 hour and 15 minutes.
The recipe then calls for the Button Bones be removed from the pan with the liquid drained off. Then they are to be glazed with Honey Garlic or Plum Sauce - YUCK!
Not in my kitchen!!
I'll take the portion I want to eat and broil them, as is, to crisp them up a bit. Maybe a little bit of salt and I'll be happy!
For my husband, I will glaze his with a BBQ sauce made with bourbon - yum! (for him)
Served with a gorgeous Ceasar Salad, I'm happy with my Pork Button Bones!
My husband wanted Potato Wedges with his but was happy enough with salad - men! :0)
I also have the recipe to success in helping you to find the answer to all your home buying and selling needs - give me, Susan Emo, a call, and together we can cook up a result that will make you smile in Gananoque, Kingston and the 1000 Islands region!
