I was cruzing around Active Rains google and came across this awesome and informative post that I thought this was a must read for our tight community of Active Rain Real Estate Professionals.

Evernote LogoIn January of 2012, I finally gave up the Blackberry ghost and moved to a Windows Smartphone.  Why, when everybody and their brother is going to iPhone or Android? Simply, because I wanted to be sure my new phone would integrate as completely as possible with my Outlook calendar and contacts, and give me the best solution for using files created by MS Office through the cloud.

So much for that thought.  I never did get my HTC Arrive on the Sprint network to integrate to Outlook.  Email access, no problem.  Calendar and contacts, big problems.  But I was able to export everything to my Google account and synch up from there, so that was done.  And using the mobile Office app with files in the cloud was OK, too.

Notes, lists and random thoughts or to-do’s were a separate issue.  Until I found Evernote, that is.  Evernote runs on all OS’s and mobile devices.  Create a free account, tell it to synch from anywhere to anywhere and all of your devices are kept up to date.  Change something on the smartphone, it shows up on the laptop.  Make a new note on your nook tablet e-reader and likewise.  I just love this app.

The free version has some monthly and total storage limits (which I’m not close to hitting yet), but you can upgrade for a nominal price to get increased limits.  The premium version also eliminates the ad panel on the app.

You can ‘clip’ web pages, or almost anything on your screen for that matter, and save it to a note.  Add a video, a picture or a sound file to boot.  Create topic driven notebooks for filing purposes, use hashtag descriptors for easy location, this is really a full-featured app.  You can also take notes or notebooks ‘offline’ to live on your device if you know you’ll be without a network connection (premium, iOS and Droid only).

This has become one of the most important tech tools that I use, and I use it every day, throughout the day, on multiple devices. It's a no-brainer for staying up to date and not having to re-enter the same data on multiple devices.  I’m still using the free version and haven’t really had any major limitations, but I know that I’m using it for more and more things and eventually I’ll likely pay the $45 for an annual upgrade. Even at that price, it’s a bargain.
