There are times in your life that you just have to hand the reins over to someone else and hope they know where they are taking you. Last week I had to have some simple surgery done on my left shoulder. Nothing terrible, but it needed to be done. It required an Operating Room and people to put me to sleep. So, minor as it was, there was still some trepidation on my part.
My Doctor's name is Dr. Gary Hathaway, and he works for a great group called Summit Surgical Group. He is a funny guy who resembles Will Smith. When he arrived and checked in on me, I asked him if he had read up on the procedure and was ready. He hung is head and said he had been too busy to read up on it. He said he would wake me up half way through if he needed help. The humor helped set me at ease. (I hope he was kidding!)
The surgery was done at Marietta Surgical. These folks were terrific. The nurses there stayed with me until I was asleep and were there when I woke. They were caring and as far as I could tell did their jobs perfectly! What a nice way to go through an unpleasant time.
The best news is that the operation was a success! It took all of 30 minutes or so, but still everything worked out perfectly. Even though I was given pain killers, I never had to use them. I think this is testimony to the skill of Dr. Hathaway.
So, if you ever need any type surgery, I recommend Summit Surgical, and specifically Dr. Hathaway. He was terrific. Now every time I see Men In Black, I will wonder how my surgeon had time to make that movie.
