Rob, Probate sales must be extremely difficult but having volunteered to handle your Father's Estate says a lot about you. We have a Living Trust because after handling my wife's Mother Estate we realized how much better it was than Probate would have been.
Recognizing the needs of others and handling their needs in a professional manner is what we should all strive to do. Thank you for sharing and best wishes always.
Ben, I'm glad you Love The Death Niche. Good luck and best wishes always.
Joetta, I'm not ready to go there either. ;-) The only thing worst that going there and closing the transaction is to go through most of the transaction and NOT having it close. Hopefully, the next Death Niche Transaction will be a more positive experience. Best wishes always.
Hi MaryBeth, No one starts out in Real Estate thinking about the Death Niche, but eventually the Grim Reaper will force us all to learn what it's all about. The longer we can wait the better. Best wishes always.
Ann, Be careful what you hope for! ;-) I was concerned that this post and Title might be the death of me, but I went ahead and took a chance. The positive thing about reading the obituaries is that you're still around to read the obituaries. I might do it too, if I still subscribed to a newspaper.
I'm sure that there must be some truth to that story about the agent with a Black Mercedes in the funeral caravan, and the florist is an excellent place to get death related leads, IF you wanted death related business.
Stay out of the obituary columns and we just might get a chance to meet someday. Best wishes always.
Steven, Good for you in picking up on that opportunity. I absolutely intend to focus on a single level floor plan niche in the near future, and I can't wait too long, because I'm a Baby Boomer. It's a great future niche! Good luck and best wishes always.
Mel, I can't think of anyone better than YOU to handle the "Old Fellas", sitting in their smelly pee, while you sip a cup of Cinderella tea. ;-) Thank you for the lines of wit...I was afraid that you would never quit. I hope to see you soon and best wishes always.
Dear Karen Anne, Yes! I'll take a compliment any time that I can get one. Thank you!
I had no idea that all 74,000,000 of the still living Baby Boomers would be commenting on this post, and I've still got a few more responses to write. It is hard to respond to everyone when we get this many comments, but like YOU, I do try. Since I was the one that got everyone excited about seeing Dead Baby Boomers and The Baby Boomer Death Clock, I feel somewhat responsible. Do you think I should write an apology or a sequel? ;-) Thank you for taking the time to make me feel good and best wishes always.
Hi Mary, I can't speak for everyone else, but I NEVER expect to die, at least until the day I do. ;-) I've also seen people in their 70s with great health and high energy, but a lot of young Baby Boomers in their 50s act like an 80 year old. Thank you for commenting and best wishes always.
Lora, That title grabbed a lot of people's attention! What was I thinking? ;-) So very true about the downsizing of American Seniors, the wave is building and at some point the Baby Boomers will be moving down in big numbers. Thank you and best wishes always.
Bob, Why couldn't I have been born in The Greatest Generation? Although they're older, they've got a much cooler name. We're just a bunch of Babies. ;-) As expected, The Greatest Generation is showing us the way. Best wishes always.
Gloria, I FINALLY made it down the comment chain to YOU. I hope you're still waiting for my response. ;-)
YOU may not seek it out those transactions, but you most certainly are caring, compassionate and a kind soul. In my opinion, you're the perfect person to hold the hand of a family member and gently guide them through a difficult transaction. Besides, I know for a fact that you've done some serious hand holding with your Short Sale Transactions. Death Transactions might even be easier than some Short Sales. I'm looking forward to seeing you at the end of February. Good luck and best wishes always.
Richard, I have been remiss in not getting over to your blogposts as-of-late, but you never disappoint! I'm not the least bit surprised that this was featured. GREAT.
I used to be in the long term care business....I had an agent pop into Vernonia Realty on Monday, and he's listed an assisted living community. I had mentioned that I used to be in that biz...TEN YEARS AGO approximately. You should have seen him light up! He was workin' me bigtime, trying to tell me that I need to contact people, that he would pay a referral fee....yadayada. I told him that I have no connections anymore, but he just wasn't listening. He reminded me of the ambulance chasers way back when...just a new version.
So, what prompted you to do this post? Had you just closed one recently related to this?
Gayle, This is TOO FUNNY! I was just over at your Blog leaving YOU a comment while you were here. ;-) WE both felt the need to reach out at the same time. WE must truly be soul mates or at least true kindred spirits.
My inspiration for this post was triggered by stumbling upon The Baby Boomer Death Clock and being reminded of many friends whose time has already ran out, and recent transactions which were the result of death. The post had been sitting in "Draft" mode for a few months and I finally just decided to let it fly before MY Time Ran Out. After all, I am a Baby Boomer! Best wishes always.
