A foreclosure hurts your credit immeasurably for years, puts off buying a home with a Fannie Mae loan for at least 7 years, the lender can come after you for the monies they lost on the mortgage balance you owed on the home and there is no forgiveness of mortgage debt. It is not the best solution for any homeowner.
