Be Thankful Challenge ~ Day 5: Ella Smither Geriatric Center
Today I am thankful for Ella Smither Geriatric Center in Huntsville, Texas. I first became aware of Ella Smither when I worked at Huntsville Funeral Home and the Director’s mother was a resident there. He was always telling us that he visited all of the homes in town -- and Ella Smither was the one that he selected for his mother. Why? The people.
So... when my mother broke her shoulder and had to go to rehab for a month, Ella Smither Geriatric Center was my immediate choice. Mother spent one month in their care, and I have to agree... the people at Ella Smither are more than wonderful.
A year later, my mother broke her hip and the other shoulder. (She was having mini strokes and blacking out.) This meant another stay at Ells Smither. This time, TWO months!
Between the two stays, I met and fell in love with the residents AND staff at Ella Smither.
On this 5th day of the Be Thankful Challenge, I am thankful for the staff of Ella Smither. From the ones who do the laundry, cook, clean the rooms, change the diapers, help with showers.....
...to the ones who pass out the snacks, and the sweet ones who administer the medication.
Thank you for the tender loving care that you show the residents. May God bless you greatly! XOXO
This post is part of the Be Thankful Challenge. An attempt to prepare my heart (and yours) for Thanksgiving and the upcoming Christmas Season! If you are just now hearing about this challenge, you can jump on board at ANY time. It is never too late to have a thankful heart!
