Since it's opening, Reston Town Center Ice Rink has been a community favorite! I took my children there for Girls Scout events, Boy Scout events, club outings, sporting team outings and just to meet friends and get some exercise.

Located in the Pavilion at Reston Town Center, the ice rink opened for the season on November 1, 2012. It will remain open, weather permitting, until the second week in March, 2013.

There are rental skates, and other skating supplies, available in the Skate Shop. The Skate Shop is located across from  the Pavilion and beside Clyde's.

The regular hours for the rink are below, but there are special holiday hours, so please check the website for Ice Rink at Reston Town Centerspecific times,http://www.restontowncenter.com/iframe/pop-ups/ice_skating.htm :

We do not have many Ice Rinks in our area.  Have fun at Reston Town Center's.

Holly, this is a sport I wish I had mastered as a child. I was born with club feet. Surgery corrected the problem when I was five but my feet weren't strong enough to ever do this. It looks like a great time for the entire family.

Holly, I was in Reston a few years ago for a three-day conference with By Referral Only.  Reston Town Center is such a great place.  Loved the crab cakes at Clydes, although I know there are many restaurants with better crab cakes than Clydes.  I love crab cakes.  Surprised?

Now... I love the ice skating rink.  My ankles would never allow me to ice skate, but I did quite a bit of roller skating in my day.  I just loved sitting near the rink and watching everyone ice skate... including some who were very talented.  Perhaps one day this season you could take perhaps a five minute video of the skating.  I would love to see that.

Take care...

ps... now all I am going to be thinking about is crab cakes.  Thanks a lot!  LOL.

Thanks for your comments!

Tim, it is a really great place. I grew up here and we did not have a rink back then...of course the Lakes froze back then--not a political comment, just a fact :).

Tammie, My kids grew up with the rink near by and I have to say that only one of them is really proficient.

Karen Anne, Those crabcakes are great...I can't eat Gluten anymore, so I can't enjoy them either.  Maybe you can make some crabcakes--most people around here use the recipe on the back of the Old Bay Seasoning can, if that is avaialble in your area. It is the traditional Maryland Crab Cake recipe.

The video is a great idea! I am not very creative with the use of video, so I really appreciate the suggestion.
