Venice FL - New Designation “Bicycle Friendly Community”
Good news, the City of Venice is going to celebrate their latest achievement after years of hard work. All are welcome to attend the formal award ceremony of Venice FL – New designation “Bicycle Friendly Community”.
When: Friday November 9, 2012 at 4:00pm
Where: Historic Venice Train Depot, 303 E Venice Avenue, Venice FL 34285
Admission: Free
Featured speakers: Venice Mayor John Holic and Tim Bustos from the League of American Bicyclists and the Florida Bicycle Association
You will see new signs that Venice is a “Bicycle Friendly Community” around the town. With the new designation of silver level, it will attract more tourists to Venice Florida who enjoy safe cycling as leisure or sport from around the country and the world. Also, it will help to improve the local economy.
The Legacy Trail and the new construction of overpass bridge on US 41 added value to the achievement of the award.
Boulder, Colorado; Davis, California and Portland, Oregon are the only communities which have achieved the Platinum level. 16 communities have the Gold level and 39 communities have the silver level. There are about 200 communities which have the bronze level.
We are proud our first award was Silver level (not bronze) which seldom happens.
Venice is a wonderful place to live, work, play or visit.
