Wordless Wednesday..Key West In Pictures

I often wonder if I'm one of the crazy ones that sometimes has to be forced to go away on vacation. Let's face it, there's never a good time. Meeting people and friends In Key West, listening to singer songwriters that converged for the "Meeting of the Minds" week, was good to take my mind off of the sadness of putting my Shadow to sleep the day before I left. I mean, how can you not smile at hundreds of happy parrot heads right?

Key West is one of those places that can be like a mini laid back Vegas if you hang on Duval St...or another vacation of sorts if you hang at the beach, go snorkeling, diving, or deep sea fishing. If you mix the both..well better yet. Anyway..so much for my wordlessness...lol. Here are some pictures I took this trip around.

Of course you have to do SOME touristy things

I thought this mossy tree was cool looking

I started taking another picture but ended up taking this instead..any ideas what it is??

Hmmm..what could this be?

This was the shot I was aiming for..but was distracted by the texture in the above photo.

Oh..and here was what the abstract picture was of..the railing.

Cool shots. For what ever reason I had the best latte in some out of the way lunch place when we spent a couple of nights there.

wow, your post was emotional for me. One of my former agents who passed away 4 years ago loved Key West, made me think about him.  Nice memories of a past visit and love your photos.

Not exactly wordless, Cindy, but the photos were enjoyable.

Key West is still on my bucket list. I had reservations at a neat little inn there a few years back. That was before I know when hurricane season threatens that area. When the first storm threatened, I said, “Aw, shucks, it will be gone before we get there.” When the second storm threatened I said, “Well, I am sure we will be all right”. When the third storm blustered its way into existence and head that way I said, “Please cancel my reservations”.

I have not made it there but I will some day.

Awesome pictures Cindy and I am happy to hear you got some distraction! The texture picture is def. interesting but I have no clou .. please do share!

P.S. I love the rooster-pic but I had to laugh-out-loud. Look at the sign in the back, Vogel - State Attorney. Vogel is the German word for bird. What a coincidence. :-)

Hi Tammy, So sorry about your agent..that had to be sad. Hopefully my pictures were able to put a good smile on your face with your thoughts of him.

Thank you Dale, I added one more after that picture..I needed to go in and show what the abstract pic was of. I have this little video clip of the boat moving and gulls flying. All I needed was a beach with someone..or a couple riding a horse and I would have had a great ad for Key West.

Hi John, I know..I have a hard time with wordless :). The first time we went down there was right after hurricane Ike I believe. Our trip was delayed as they had cancelled flights into Key West. I told my hubby that I didn't want to go thinking things would be closed and a mess. He said he was going with or without me...so OK..I tagged along. It actually wasn't bad. Some restaurants on the water were closed..and there were lots of palm tree debri in the roads, but all in all, we had a great trip! We went this time last year and the weather was just as nice the entire time..sunny and 80.

Hi Andrea, I was hesitant on going..but thought why not. It was a good distraction. Funny about the bird/Vogel. This guy/gal went from this crosswalk to another..looking at the cars going by but thankfully decided NOT to cross the road! Oh..and the picture was of the railing I was leaning on. I added it in to the post. I was looking at a button on my camera and noticed the texture of the rail..so took that shot first!

Hi Rob, Depending on what's going on that time of year...it can be a very wild place as well! We just had lots of parrot heads the week we were there..but the just before that was Fantasy Fest....pretty common to have lots of folks walk around totally nude covered in body paint. My hubby was hoping to see this....but not to happen.

Hi Caron, I think it's just one of those places that stays the same for the most part. Some of the stores change, but the touristy things are still there.

Beautiful photographs, Cindy.

Key West is in my State  - but it's over 600 miles from my home in Tallahassee.  It is completely different geographically and otherwise from where I am in Northwest Florida.   It has been way too long since I have been to The Keys... time for a visit!
