Thousands of Views and What does Your Profile on ActiveRain Say About You?

Definitely worth reposting. People forget how public social media can be. So many posts about drinking with friends, complaining about current customers, etc.  - One never knows where their posts may end up!

Why do you care?

Because people are viewing your profile as well. Ever wondered how many? Head over to your 'my home' page and then click on the link on the left hand side that says 'traffic'. (or just click that link when logged in). At the top of that page you can see how many times someone has viewed your profile.

"Uh oh........."

Or at least that's what a few of you may have just said after you realized you haven't put much thought into what is actually on that page.

Can someone easily get an idea of how you do business? Can they easily find links to your testimonials from other satisfied clients? Can they get a good sense for who you are as a person to decide whether or not they might want to do business with you? Can they easily connect with you on your social media platforms? Does your profile have links back to important posts you've written?

Who sees me?

It's not just other ActiveRain members that are looking at your profiles. Consumers are checking you out after they read your posts. For some of you your ActiveRain profile comes up when someone searches your name in Google. Consumers are searching your names before they plan on doing business with you......

But what if it was just other ActiveRain members? Did you ever consider they might be researching you to refer one of their trusted clients to you? They want to know the same things about you that your clients do.

So does Your profile accurately represent your business? Is it something of which you are proud? Did the 100's or 1000's of people that have viewed your profile come away with a good impression of you? If not, you might want to consider bypassing that next blog post and instead spending 30 minutes updating your profile so it's a good representation of your business.

The members I mentioned at the beginning of this post have been around for a while. So while those numbers are rather large, maybe you are thinking 'yeah, but I haven't been around that long, not as many people have seen my profile'. You'd be right of course.....but these are nothing to laugh at........

Need Some Good Examples?

The three people I started with are all very good examples of profiles that have most of the pertinent info you would want to have in your profile. Here are some more very good examples.

Anna 'Banana' Kruchten
Richard Yates
Cindy Jones
Eileen Hsu
Dorie Dillard
Amy Hahn

Need Some Help?

Richard Yates wrote a great series of blog posts about how to improve your profile on ActiveRain. Thank you to Debbie Gartner for mentioning it and Alan Mays for tracking the post down for me.

If you are serious about putting your best foot forward to anyone checking out your profile, you'd be wise to head over and read Richard's posts on the subject.
