In South Charlotte, there's more to do than appreciating the changing colors of the autumn trees, feeling the crisp cool air, planning for Thanksgiving and looking forward to (or fearing) Black Friday during the month of November. Ballantyne Hotel

The politicking for November is done, right? Not just yet...on November 8 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The Ballantyne Hotel & Lodge Ballantyne Breakfast Club and the Ballantyne Chapter of the Charlotte Chamber of Commerce will be hosting a Town Hall Meeting with Mayor Anthony Foxx. This meeting will he held on Thursday, November 8th from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Mayor Foxx will share insights into several of the topics that Charlotte will be facing in the future including the search for a new City Manager and the need to pass a Capital Improvement Plan. Following the Mayor's presentation there will be a Q&A session. This meeting is open to all residents of Charlotte.

On the arts front, the public is invited to Bite of the Apple—Art Educator's Art Exhibit which showcases artwork created by local area North Carolina and South Carolina art teachers. The annual exhibit hosted by the Civic & Cultural Arts Center of Pineville at 316 Main St., Pineville in its main gallery is free to the general public and was created to encourage art teachers to create artwork outside of the classroom in a friendly juried competition. Light refreshments and live music on opening night beginning at 6:30 p.m. on November 9, 2012. The show will be on display through December 1, 2012.

You can't have Thanksgiving without "giving". Join the Second Harvest Food Bank for the Annual Harvest Feast Marathon Food Drive with Harris Teeter at Stonecrest Shopping November 9-10 & November 16-17. The Harvest Feast Marathon features a live remote with WRFX 99.7, food, games and fun! The community is encouraged to come out and donate canned goods or money. If you can't make it to the food drive, donations can be made at all Harris Teeter Stores through the end of November.Ballantyne Shopping

Eating on the go is a part of holiday shopping. If you want to avoid long lines at sit-down restaurants while shopping in the Ballantyne area, try the The Herban Legend Mobile Cafe parked next to the Boyle Building at Dalton Green. The menu features unique offerings such as a Pork and Chorizo Tostados and Fried Green Tomato Grilled Cheese Sandwiches, and for the adventurous eater, a Sri Lankan Curry Wrap. The mobile cafe will be parked next to the Boyle Building be serving up American and International street food from 11:00am – 2:00pm every other Tuesday starting Nov. 20.
