The real issue about politics today is that our nation is experiencing a true identity-crisis politically. It seems to me that neither party really has a good handle about who they are nor what they really stand for, except that the Democratic Party has figured out what our large population cultures in our relatively small geographical areas of the United States actually envision about our country and what they want regarding our future – I think.
Personally, I do not fit into the square hole of ultraconservatism, nor do I adhere to far left views that challenge justice and morality at its greatest extremes. The center or the core or the place of reasonable thinking is just that: vacant, empty and void of intellectual argument that should grow community and create stronger unification. Any house divided cannot stand. And unfortunately, reasonable thinking has fallen into the dark hole of nowhere, especially since the Congress maintains it propensity for gridlock over the next four years as the House is comfortably controlled by the Republicans and the Senate is securely run by the Democrats.
What do we do NOW? I think we need to stop giving opinions, as delivered by me generously in this blog. Instead, we should submit to the governing authorities appointed to us and do what is good. Not just for ourselves, but more importantly, do more good to others than what we would do for ourselves. It’s time to begin to understand the dynamics of our culture and its shifting power of change.
I think we need to find that voice that carries the torch for this next generation. Polarization, sequestration and any other word with “ation” is something we, as a nation who is trying to find out who we are and how we build for the future, should push aside for the betterment of the whole.
