In our North Georgia Mountains , especially on the Southern end of the Appalachians, fall colors peaked this week. It was a tough fall for leaf watching. Just as we got close to peak a piece of Sandy hit us. For us in the mountains it was mostly a rain and wind event. There were some local power outages but nothing like the Northeast.
Here is the dell I drive by each day to get to my home. I live in Big Canoe. So if you are thinking I do not want to live in a gated community due to the crowds and congestion maybe you should re think !!
This picture is from the same location looking up the road. As you can see we are private and pretty in the fall.
Just a bit of trivia. Aside from the way we sound English folks talk about Autumn rather than Fall when describing this time of year. However, when the Europeans from England landed here the Shakespearean English at the time was Fall not Autumn. So as I say to my British friends when they tweak me on the use of the word Fall, " I am speaking Shakespearean English rather than the uneducated vernacular of the day that you are speaking. Have fun with this bit of trivia and hope you enjoy the photos
