Auburn Washington Veterans' Day Parade    Military Parade

The 47th Auburn Washington Veterans' Day Parade will be held Saturday, November 10th at 11 am.

The parade boasts almost 200 units and over 5,500 parade participants, travelling over a one mile route.  This year there were so many groups seeking to participate that some groups had to be turned away.

As a designated regional site for the celebration of Veterans' Day - this is one of the largest celebrations in the United States.

Auburn is located about 20 miles south of Seattle and 12 miles northeast of Tacoma.

For those unable to make it this year (short notice on my part) you can put it on your calendars for next year.

May each of you remember the true meaning and purpose of this holiday weekend.

We can't do enough for our veterans. We need to give them 100% support, no matter what that takes. Thanks for sharing the post.

Steven that is amazing, a parade so big that it needed to turn participants down.  It shows that the majority of this country still respect and honor our Veterans.  It would be great to teach the rest that as well.

I'm sure you had a HUGE turnout for the Veterans Day Parade. If you got to go, I hope that you will share your photographs with us.

Hello all -- yes, there were some turned away, but one group that had been turned away - "Veterans for Peace" took the decision to court, and the judge ordered the city to let them in.  Have not seen any rports of them actually making an impact on the generally supportive nature of the gathering.   Thanks for stopping by.

That is a big parade.  Our little town didn't do anything so elbarate, but many of the retailers gave vets discounts and or free meals.

Randi -- yes, it is a large parade -- and I heard it had a very good turnout of people on the sidewalks as well!

Joshua -- indeed!  Thanks for stopping by.

Great, and I mean, great localism post.  There are a lot of people who love to turn out for these parades.  And, you know your Auburn area, Steven Cook.

Don -- that is what happens when you grow up within 5 miles of a place, and it is place for major shopping at the time (before the malls all started sprouting up.)
