Receiving email on your cell phone was once reserved for those with data plans and smartphones. Not any longer. One company getting rid of smart phone envy is teleflip with FlipMail. Plain and simple it allows you to send and receive email on your cell phone through text messaging.

FlipMail

I know what most of you are probably thinking, you receive 200+ spam messages a day and 200 emails would equal 200+ text messages...ouch. Rest assured the company has a work around for you. Instead of receiving every message, you get to specify the email addresses of the people you would like to get a text message/email from, say your boss, a client, or your family and friends.

You even have control over how much of the message is sent to you, FlipMail only allows 120 characters of a message through at a time; but you can specify the max amount of texts your willing to receive per email from 1 to 10. You really don't have to worry about being over texted with FlipMail, they've put a lot of safeguards in place to allow their users complete control.

Besides being able to receive emails, you can even respond back and send out new emails to people through text messaging, so if you're in the market for a smartphone simply to get email on the go you might want to check out FlipMail, it's a great alternative.

I love my Blackberry Pearl and have no intention of going back.  For less than $100 per month, I have unlimited phone usage from anywhere in WI and MN to anywhere in the US and parts of Canada  and unlimited access to all 4 of my email accounts, my kids' email accounts, the internet and Mapquest, and it integrates with my Outlook calendar so I always have my calendar with me.  Texting?  only if I want to!

Carrie ~ That's great to hear that the Pearl is a good phone (I really like the scrollbars navigation), having access to everything while on the go is a huge time saver.

Chris - I use a windows based HTC from Telus - A great little phone that is just like carrying my computer in my pocket. I call it my "sidekick" It's about 2 1/4" by 4 1/2" and the back slides out with a full keyboard.

Ive had the Treo & the 8525 (made by HTC).....they are great for keeping contacts, emailing & surfing the web, but I've had a lot of freezing issues with both phones.

I'm sticking w/ them because my mobile MLS only supports IE, but as soon as they support the iphones browser I'm jumping ship

I am actually using the program and it works but it takes 2 to 3 emails for one message to get through.
