The Christmas Ship Parade Special at the Port of Camas-Washougal, December 1st, 2012
Launch your holiday season with a kick-off performance of the Christmas Ship Parade on Saturday, December 1st from 7-8PM. The boats will assemble at the Port of Washougal-Camas docks for about an hour before sailing for Portland on the Washington side of the Columbia River.
You can enjoy hot cider and cookies at the Christmas Ship Parade special performance which is viewed from the warmth of the meeting room inside the Port offices. The marina is located about 5 miles east of Portland, between Camas and Washougal via highway 14. ( River Mile 127.1)
The Christmas Ship Parade is made possible by donations - and kind-hearted Ship Skippers.
The Christmas Ship fleet averages about 50-60 boats, all decorated in holiday light themes, that sail on the Columbia and Willamette Rivers from December 7th through the 21st, 2012. This marks the 58th year for the Christmas Ship Parade and it remains one of the area's most popular holiday sights.
Without the generous donations from businesses and restaurants located along the waterfront, the parade would not be possible. The donations help pay for the insurance policy that is required for the annual event. Each Christmas Ship skipper donates his own fuel and time - and receives no compensation.
You can help the cause by booking your parties and reservations at the sponsoring restaurants and hotels. You'll find a link to those sponors on the Christmas Ship Parade Schedule. Get ready to launch the holiday season with the Christmas Ship Parade at the Port of Camas - Washougal, on December 1st, 2012.
