Workshop: Building A Healthy Green Home

Learn the basics of healthy, environmentally friendly homes. Christopher J. Hall, CEO of GreenLife Homes, will discuss various products and systems found in green homes and will also explain the third-party certification programs (LEED for Homes, Green Built Michigan, and EPA Energy Star) commonly used by Green builders. You'll have a chance to ask questions and meet a number of Green Building experts. This course is free but registration is required and is open to the public and REALTORS®.

REALTORS® bring you clients to this class and help them to learn about green homes. GreenLife Homes will offer a Buyers Agent Commission through their selling agent, ERA Network Realty.

We're going to have video of it and make it available to a number of people and groups. Once we get the video back we'll have a better idea of how to distribute.

It's basically 45 minutes of the basics followed by 15 on the various green programs (LEED, EFL, Energy Star, NAHB, etc). It really isn't going to be tooting our horn as much as showing the benefits of building healthy, energy efficient, environmentally sustainable homes.

In my former life as Executive Director of the nation’s first statewide residential green certification program, Green Built Michigan, I used to do a three-hour course to train builders and coordinated training on everything from HVAC to marketing. They went quite a bit deeper and were aimed at the building industry.

This workshop is very much NOT aimed at the industry. Just trying to spread the word on green. Hopefully it will help people choose to build homes that don’t cause the energy companies to build another coal-fired power plant. It isn't rocket surgery. It's just building science.
