One of my favorite parks is Greenway Park located in Beaverton, Oregon. Greenway Park stretches for miles and is maintained my Tualatin Valley Parks and Rec District. They are currently in an improvement phase lasting until 2016 in which they are going to remove non-habitat plants, trees and shrubs and re-plant natural and native plants to the environment. Their hopes are to bring back and restore the natural wildlife, native animals, birds, insects originally found in the area.
I've sold quite a few homes in the Greenway Park area, and for those buyers looking to get some nature at their doorsteps, I'd encourage them to think about the Greenway area. The latest project to restore natural habitats within the park will benefit surrounding property values.
These are Sequoias trees.
Sequoias are redwoods and are known to be the tallest trees on earth. Not these trees, although they are huge.
"Sequoias were named after Sequoyah, a Cherokee scholar, who, basing on Latin letters Latin and Cyrillic letters, created the alphabet for the people he originated from. As a result, the rates of literacy amongst Cherokees rose significantly, helping preserve their language and culture." [Wikipedia]
