St Jude WalkOn Saturday, November 17 at Tysons Corner Center our caring community will join together to participate in a walk to raise money for the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. This massive effort will include 90 other cities across the nation.

St. Jude is a place of hope, a leader in research hospitals fighting against deadly childhood diseases and caring for children from all over the world who are in desperate need. Families are able to bring their child to St. Jude’s and concentrate on their healing, without any concern for their ability to pay as no payment is required.

St. Jude’s employs a group of talented researchers offering clinical trials and patient resources unlike any other hospital. Public donations provide more than 75% of the funding necessary to run the facility which costs $1.8 million per day to operate. They currently have programs in place to address 46 catastrophic diseases including AIDS, various forms of complex cancer, infant brain tumors and sickle cell disease.

St. Jude’s was the dream of the late Danny Thomas who brought that dream into reality in 1962 and went on to change the lives of families everywhere. In 2005 an expansion was completed that furthered the hospital's ability to find treatments and cures for catastrophic childhood diseases. The mission of the hospital is not only to prevent and cure disease, but also to unlock the mysteries of how a child’s body fights diseases in order to eliminate the catastrophic infections that can kill children.

The St. Jude Give Thanks Walk  is a family-friendly event that will help fund the hospital, allow them to continue to care for children free of cost and further their research.Registration, which is free, will begin at 6:30 a.m., and the walk starts at 8 a.m. at Macy's Court. The closing ceremony as well as the incentives will be located at California Pizza Kitchen. It will be a great day for the Tysons Corner community to show their support, and it is never too late to donate.
