Emerald Isle NC Bridge Work Set to Begin December 3, 2012

Bridge work expected to begin December 3, 2012

The Department of Transportation will be starting bridge work in Emerald Isle NC. The project involves the replacement of bridge joints and resurfacing of the bridge decking. The project is expected to continue until May 2013.

In order to complete this work, it is necessary to close one lane of the bridge for extended periods. Motorists should expect delays traveling over the bridge, and should plan accordingly by allocating additional time to reach your destination.

As of November 14, the expected plan is as follows:

Monday, December 3 - Friday, December 7: One lane closed during daytime hours as construction crews begin preliminary work.
No lane closures will occur on weekends between 7 pm Friday evening and 7 pm Sunday evening.
Sunday, December 9, beginning at 7 pm until Friday, December 14 at 7 pm: One lane closed 24 hours per day.
Sunday, December 16, beginning at 7 pm until Friday, December 21 at 7 am: One lane closed 24 hours per day.
No lane closures are planned from Friday, December 21 at 7 am until Sunday, January 6 at 7 pm due to the holidays.
Sunday, January 6, beginning at 7 pm until Friday, January 11 at 7 pm: One lane closed 24 hours per day.
Sunday, January 13, beginning at 7 pm until Friday, January 18 at 7 pm: One lane closed 24 hours per day.
