I could jokingly say that today I am thankful that we are now at the halfway point in our 30 days of being thankful but that would not be true!
I love that people are actively looking for something to be thankful about, and redirecting their focus onto something positive during their day.
Being physically aware of all the good that is in our lives!
Today, I awoke to the joy that comes with Thursdays:
my 84 year old Mother is still active enough to get her hair done each Thursday morning to be prepared for her Seniors' Group in the afternoon. Today is Potluck Day (once a month) and she is excited to take the Chicken Pot Pie I made for her this morning. (it smells delicious and is making me hungry - I should have made two!!!)
When my Father passed away, we moved back to Canada to be with my Mother. Like many people of their generation, they were each others best friend. Busy with a large family, they didn't take the time to be with other people. Their entire lives were wrapped up in each other.
So, it was like the first day of Kindergarten when I took my Mother to this Senior's Group that first time. She was extremely nervous; I told her to just smile at the first person she met and to introduce herself. I made she had a quarter to call me if she wanted to come home early :)
I waited at the door for the longest of time, out of sight but watching to make sure she was okay!! The ladies were lovely and immediately made her feel a part of their long standing group.
So today I find myself so extremely thankful for my Mother's Seniors' Group and the lovely ladies there who have accepted her into their lives and made her feel so welcome and a part of our community.
