Feng Shui A New York City Apartment (Manhattan Feng Shui)

I love the challenge of recreating a room...or an office...or a corporation.  But employing Feng Shui Principles into a very small space can be a challenge at times.  We don't want to ask our clients to spend much money, we seek to work with what they have and redesign a room that way.

Some New York City Apartments are large and there is plenty of space while others consist of just ONE room.  In this particular case of working with my client (who graciously allowed me to share her photos with you), we were able to take a very small bedroom and change the energy of the space with color and some Feng Shui elements.

Bedrooms in Feng Shui are used to incorporate "partnerships," both personal and business.  My lovely client had no one special in her life at the time and was also in a position of transitioning to her own business.

The bedroom in the first pictures lacked BALANCE, something we always seek to achieve in Feng Shui and home staging.  In my opinion my client was not "backed up" in life without a headboard and her bed was facing the wrong direction. One side of the bed was also pushed against the wall which didn't allow the room she needed to attract someone new into her life.  While her artwork was absolutely astonishing (and made just for her), it represented ONE.  We were seeking to bring someone new into her life.

Not just anyone either.  In fact while speaking to her I quickly realized that she was as sensitive to another's energy as I am.  Pure heart and soul were put into the changes that she made which intensified her already powerful energy.  And her Intentions were set.

While I will be following up on the rest of her apartment as the changes are made for there, I wanted to show you what a small space can become.  Her bedroom is now a true sanctuary---for both herself and her new partner who is just wonderful.  How I LOVE happy endings!!   Here are some of the changes:

.

An After Shot:  BALANCE.  My client purchased a headborad and two small tables.  Her bed is now facing the correct way and she has added items of "twos" on her nightstand.

Carole- I love what you did to that bedroom! Such a tiny space and you really created some great energy in that room. I understand Feng Shui so I know that you did a good job, I am not just saying it looks nice, I am saying it feels good too. We have some big issues in our bedroom that I have been trying to work on, we have two walls of complete mirrors behind our bed and on the wall next to where I sleep. The prosperity section of our house lands in one corner of our bedroom which I have fixed nicely with the correct elements. It will be a while before I can take those mirrors down as they are attached to the walls. Katerina

Carole, I wish I understood how you do this and how I could incorporate your ideas into my home.  Will you come see me next time you're in Texas?  I promise to cook you a good meal and I'll even kick one of my kids out of their room so you can have a comfy bed to sleep in. . .after you've done what you do so well!  Amazing job on the NY place!  Peace!

Carole,

The feel in the redecorated bedroom is astonishingly upbeat and energetic, as you probably would put it in Feng Shui speak. To me the balancing and using the twos is just simply impressive.

Now thats a small bedroom-reminds me of the ones in Europe.  Nice use of the lines in the drapes with the bedspread.

Carole

I am going to pay a lot more attention to these concepts. It is something I really lack.

Feng Shui is really a talent. You did a great job with the bedroom.

Sincerely

Tom Braatz

Carole ~ Nicely done!  Your clients bedroom looks much nicer; not so much like it was an after thought.  It is amazing how small some of those apartments are!

Beautiful work, Carole!  Amazing the difference you've made in the room and the red just seems to energize it completely.

I'm glad to hear that she has someone wonderful in her life now......goes to show the power behind Feng Shui!

Carole, what a transformation!  I can't believe how small a space you had to work with and yet it still feels full of energy.  Another great job, my friend...you are the WOman!

Carole - wonderful transformation.  My guess is that you not only changed the look and the feel of this room but
also your client's quality life, prosperity, and her love life, too.

Katrina, It actually DOES feel good in there, I love the way it came out.  As a temporary idea for your mirrors have you thought of sheers?  There would add color and not weigh the room down and deflect all that energy of the mirrors until they can be removed.

Kurt, Thank you.  I was fortunate enough to be working with a wonderful client who took my suggestions seriously.

Jem, Thank you very much for the kind words.  I've never been to Texas so it would be fun!

Esko, Thank you, in spite of the size of the space the balance came out lovely.  It became a small but precious room.

Carol, Only if I get to say 'Holy Toledo'  !  I have a heck of a sense of humor too, I imagine we'd get along just great :)

Cindy, Thank you for your comment.  Those are actually NOT drapes, I'm not sure what you call them but they're long, silk tassels that go to the floor; and absolutely beautiful.  They are all individual "strings" of silk and kept the feeling of the room very light.

Deorah, It came out beautifully....with the benefit of meeting someone new!  When I work with a client like that it is a total joy!

Laurie, I can't wait to see how the rest of the apartment comes out.  We are not doing that much besides some changes and painting but I have a feeling that the colors we've decided on will have a huge impact.

Deborah, It does all make sense, it's funny that it seems not long ago when many people didn't know about Feng Shui or thought of it as something other then it is...It took years to dispel the myths about it---and there are still many!

Tom, Thank you for your comment, I am very happy with the way it turned out too :)

Kathy, The apartment I went to lately was one room---for two people.  In an absolutely beautiful location with gorgeous views but one room is a challange.  I am waiting and hoping that she and her husband will make some changes that are not difficult or at all expensive.

Jo, She is thrilled...so am I!  I am so fortunate to meet the absolute BEST people in this work!

Cynthia, I only made the suggestions, it was my client that worked the 'magic.'  It does certainly take energy when working with Feng Shui and some clients, sadly, never take the suggestions.  But thankfully they are rare; most do and I love follow ups :)

Julie, I am thankful every day for what I do and the people I am fortunate enough to meet.  It wasn't an easy "profession" to get into over 10 years ago, I am glad Feng Shui is more and more widely used.

Teri, Thank you...I love the look and the feeling as well and am really looking forward to going back!

Lisa, You make me laugh :)  In this case I think my lovely client was the woman, she put her heart and soul into these changes.

Marzena, There is no question that things are going very well for her and I'm thrilled--and we have more changes to make so I'm anxious to see what else happens :)

Fernando, Thank you, it does look and FEEL very different!

Kim, It DOES fell good in there, so does the rest of the space but I can't wait to see how it feels after we make some changes :)

Terry, Small spaces can be a problem but this worked out so well, she and I are both thrilled!

Donna, The bed placement was not correct, I was actually lucky we were able to change it without it interferring with the doorway.

Joan, That's the best part, she met a wonderful person and is very happy!  I love that type of news.

Jeff & Grace, Thank you, we are both happy with the way it came out.  But you can see she put a lot of time, effort and energy into transforming that space.

Gayle, Start with something by Karen Kingston, her books are not difficult to understand and you'll get basic principles.  Or William Spear, another great writer who breaks it down so it's understandable.

Candy, Thank you, the room does look and feel beautiful.  And it doesn't feel small anymore!

Joan, I recently did a one room studio--with a couple.  THAT was small and a real challange.

Sally, You never know when I might show up on your doorstep---but I'm very quiet and don't eat all that much :)

Jackie, The room looks and feels wonderful but my client really gets the credit, she took all my suggestions and created a beautiful space.  I will be going back if she paints to see it and help decide on all this incredible artwork she has.  We can only fit so much and they're all just beautiful and meaningful.

Mitchell, It's wonderful, isn't it?  And it's really not small, certainly not by Manhattan standards.  I did just meet a client who is considering moving to another part of the city and I asked her to contact me if she needs a realtor, I know  you will take good care of her!
