What's a Grandma to do? I try to keep up with the latest trends, but I have to admit this Granddad ain't hip no more.
My seven year old granddaughter just discovered texting. For those of you under 30 no explanation is required, but for the rest of you texting is sending alpha numeric messages from cell phone to cell phone.
Poor Grandma had to add a text package to her phone. Now all she has to do is learn the terminology. I did a Google search for "text shorthand" I came up with some great sites and learned a lot. The dilemma is that there are so many acronyms. Some acronyms have more than one meaning, so on we go trying to stay cool, learning new stuff that we never even dreamed of.
So to all my BFF's you better learn to text B/C it's a BFD with the GenY and GenX crowd. You doing a GJ may not be enough B/C they may tell you to GFY if you can't hang with the BD's.
I have no idea what the hell I'm talking about. I can remember when "barf me out" was "the bomb" and all we had to do was "just say no". God those were some "Groovy" day's Cat!
