Have You Visited the Cornell Ornithology Site...a Great Bird Site
If you are a bird watcher like I am, here is a great post by Kristin Hamilton who is also a person who enjoys birds. She has taken the time to share great information about enjoying this activity more. Please take a moment to read this post.
Thank you Kristin!
Several years ago I found the Cornell Lab of Ornithology and have been going to it ever since. I use the shortcut and just go to their website at www.allaboutbirds.com/. I have never joined and paid the yearly fees but I signed up for emails and get some very interesting facts, new bird species, migratory practices and new bird species all over the US, Canada and beyond.
A few months ago, I signed up for a free bird chart and here it is below.
Today, I signed up for a free bird calendar and it will be here in a few weeks. So you can sign up for one to be mailed to you also. Click here for your free bird watching calendar today.
There are two sites to view. The first site "All About Birds" is great for updates, identifying a bird, signing up for the annual bird counts, reading articles, Q & A's, bird cams, downloading bird calls to identify, and so much more to learn here.
Here you can watch the live nest cams of Red Tailed Hawks in New York, Great Blue Herons in New York, Bald Eagle’s nest in Iowa and the Osprey nest in Montana with two eggs that have not hatched and probably are not going to! So sad. I spent a lot of time while on the computer in the spring going to the live web cams of the red tailed hawks; Big Red and her mate Ezra. The four eggs hatched and we got to watch them grow until they fledged. They are still coming back to the nest.
This is the main site and it has lots of info about the Cornell Lab of Ornithology.
You can also sign up for eNews and it sends newsletters to your email address. I really like this as sometimes when I am waiting for an appointment or in line, I can read articles on my phone. Then I am not so impatient for having to wait. Good therapy to read about birds and the environment.
“Birdshare" your photos on Flickr from Yahoo. I like to go here and post my bird pictures.
