Tis the night before staging
and all through the house
not a creature is sleeping
especially the spouse......
According to my web statistics I get this huge surge of activity after midnight.
I've actually considered putting a page on my website that is specifically geared towards insomniacs:
"Dear Insomniac: You're probably looking at my website
because you've got some real estate that isn't moving,
and you're wondering what I can do for $100!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
On the reverse side of this:
I just can't sleep the night before a staging!
Honestly, you would think that after 27 years in visual merchandising, that this home staging gig would be a piece of cake! However, it ain't necessarily so! No matter how many homes I stage,
no matter the price point of the home,
no matter the fee I'm charging, I always worry that, this time, I won't be able to pull it off!
My concerns:
Not enough accessories!
The wrong furnishings!
The wrong accessories!
Did I undercharge?
Did I overcharge? (yes, I really do worry about this)
Did I remember to include the de-staging expenses in my bid?
Toss pillows, or no toss pillows? (like there's a choice)
Will I remember to pack everything?
Now that I'm awake all night, will I oversleep?
Did the truck rental place get my reservation?
Ficus tree v. Gingko v. Palm tree?
yada
yada
yada.............
So here are a few tips:
Warm water with sugar (the Greek cure for the jitters).
Warm milk (my mother).
Honey (one teaspoon - also my mother).
Resuming my career as a dynamite quality control inspector (me)!
So come on, fess up, who else stays awake at night
dreaming of dining room tables magically installing themselves,
glass table tops not breaking,
our clients giving us perfect homes?
So if y'all need me, my new business hours are from 2:00a.m. until 4:30 a.m!
New clients/insomniacs welcome!
