The countdown to 2013 has started in Pasadena CA as the city prepares to meet the world for The Rose Parade on Tuesday, January 1, 2013. 2013?

Yes, it will be here before you know and we can see signs of the new year all over Pasadena.

Sure, some of you in other parts of the country see cooler weather, , trees changing colors and maybe even snow falling but in Pasadena CA we know the installation of the first grandstands is the true indication we are getting ready for the annual New Year celebration known as The Rose Parade. There they were this week, as South Orange Grove Boulevard makes it way north to Colorado Boulevard, the first grandstands were being installed for Pasadena’s annual New Year’s party more formally known as The Tournament of Roses Parade. Held each New Year’s Day (except when that days falls on a Sunday) this year you will see Jane Goodall as the Grand Marshall of the 124th annual parade with marching bands, beautiful floats, the Rose Queen and her court, equestrian units and a fun time for all culminating in the Rose Bowl football game later that day.

Michael, I attended the Rose Parade one year when I was a student at UCLA. The preceding night was a night to remember; trying to sleep on the sidewalk to secure a good viewing spot, shivering all night; my sleeping bag caught fire in someone's hibachi. Lots of fun.

Hello Lloyd - so many people have shared your experience of "camping out" the night(or days) before the parade although I'm not one of them. I like the parade just fine in front of the television in the comfort of my home - one station even re-plays it throughout the day.

Hi Ron - yes and with November 1 falling on Thursday, the number of shopping days between Thanksgiving and Christmas increases - more chances for you to sell some bird houses...

Michael, I was shocked at your post, already they are setting up for New Years?It seems like not long ago last year I took pictures of the begining of the assembly of the grandstands, wow time flies.
