Be Consistent With Your Marketing

By
Mortgage and Lending with New Key Lending

This topic appears so easy, yet so many people fail to be `consistent` in their marketing efforts.

For example, I hear Loan Officers say things like `I just mailed 200 postcards, now what do I do? ` The answer's pretty simple...

Send 200 More Next Week!  Then the next week, and again the following week... JUST KEEP DOING IT!!!

You can't do just one mailing or broadcast, run just one ad, do just one joint venture and expect blockbuster results.

Marketing doesn't work like that!

Create a marketing plan and a marketing budget for the year, and stick to it.

For example, maybe your plan calls for distributing 50 business cards and mailing 200 postcards a week, developing and maintaining an internet website, running 2 small ads a week in local newspapers, and setting up one new realtor joint venture per month.

If that's your plan, you must stick to it.

Over a period of about 90 days, you will create momentum, and loan closings and profits will start to roll in.

And if, for some reason, one of your marketing methods stops working... Change Your Approach!

Don't just give up on voice broadcasting, direct mail or advertising entirely - test a new ad or sales letter.

Whatever you do...        Be Consistent!

I like the fact that you included the at least 90 days part, and the change your approach. I have found that with all of my efforts, the ninety days figure seems to be magical; things start to happen after momentum has been built up that long. However, you have to review to make adjustments to your plans.

I stive to maintain consistency but admit it's an effort.  I write a monthly newsletter that has been well-received in my farm area & with my sphere of influence.  It's time-consuming but has established me as a concientious professional & given me some name/face recognition.  But I need to ramp it up in other ways.  Great reminder!

Bernie, consistency is key. The best part is that after consistently marketing for a while, you start to get that wonderful snowball effect - it takes less effort to keep leads pouring in.

Thanks for a good blog and a Monday morning motivator.  So many times people give up on a marketing Idea before it brings big results.

Well said bernie. Consistency is one of the biggest key to marketing. If you tell people you are a loan officer the market that same message others and let them know how you are and what you do.
