I came across The Story of Your Stuff today and I feel everyone should stop in at this site and watch the whole 20 minutes worth of videos.

This is a quote from the Press Release and there is a short "Teaser Video" Below:

Throughout the 20-minute film, activist Annie Leonard, the film's narrator and an expert on the materials economy, examines the social, environmental and global costs of extraction, production, distribution, consumption and disposal. Her illustration of a culture driven by stuff allows her to isolate the moment in history where she says the trend of consumption mania began. The "Story of Stuff" examines how economic policies of the post-World War II era ushered in notions of consumerism - and how those notions are still driving much of the U.S. and global economies today.

Hi Andrew, I wish I had time to listen but I appreciate the opportunity, and may come back when I have a minute.  I've already gotten rid of my 'stuff' and being new to real estate, I don't have the money for new 'stuff!'  All the best to you!

Andrew` Good to know about this and how it impacts us today and how we could turn this into a positive with the invention of energy efficient technologies.

Wow, -powerful stuff. I agree, everyone needs to make the time to watch! Ironic, how much of this is already known by us, but presented in a very effective manner with a few surprises!

Hey Andrew,  LOL.  I have been saying that for YEARS and people thought I was crazy.  :)  Kind of like the TV's with DVD and VCR.  Once the VCR doesn't work anymore, it gets chucked.  :)

Andrew-

My husband sent me a link to this video last month... I think it's so sad how "disposable" everything's become!!! I'm making an effort to reduce the amount of stuff I currently have... and thinking before adding anything new!

Thanks for sharing the video - I hope more people watch it! (Also, did you check out the one about Risk Management? I think it's also on Current...)

I grew up on a farm, as did my parents, grandparents, etc.  I was taught - through actions, not words - conservation and minimalistic living.  Yeah, I like the stuff I have, but I am VERY restrained when I go shopping.  I see people all around me that are ruled by their quest for material posessions.  They are slaves to it.

I'm off my soapbox now.  Have a great day!
