Reflections… by a home inspector
Wenatchee and Chelan Real Estate Inspection Services
Sometime when you are down in the depths of a crawlspace you get the chance to really reflect on what your job is and why. On this home inspection I had such an opportunity.
So there I am lying by the reflection pool, gazing out to the abyss of crawlspace, peering at the piers that have been so conveniently improperly installed. Mental thought… Rule number one as I reflect, if you see the holes it’s a no go. CMU (Concrete masonry units) are always to be installed with the cavities vertical, not horizontal.

But I also reflect, as I am lying there, how it is so nice to have this time to be one with my thoughts.
So my thoughts race… I am sure glad I have my respirator on because my little reflection pool is actually sewer waste from a previous main line break.
Human excreta and has been implicated in the transmission of many infectious diseases including cholera, typhoid, hepatitis, polio, cryptosporidiosis, ascariasis, and schistosomiasis.
Such are the lovely thoughts I have as a home inspector lying by a reflecting pool that I may find crawling around in a home.
Who says I do not earn my money ; )

This is surely some self reflecting I can do with out
Charlie, Love reflecting when trying to keep from being part of the goo.
So, you are assuming human excrata. You really don't know. The smell/taste test always applies.
Oh, and if you install that CMU with holes vertical, it can sink into the human excrata. This guy is a thinker.
;>)
Jay, Was going to the taste test next but was too deep in thought ;)
