This Thanksgiving Day while the rest of the country is snacking away on turkey and stuffing, New Paltz NY will be hosting its 9th Annual 5K Turkey Trot, which has become a beloved local event in Ulster County NY. All proceeds of the race go to the Family of New Paltz, a local organization that operates a food pantry, hotlines, and shelter for those in need. There's even a free Mashed Potato Race for kids! So if you'd like a healthy alternative to the usual Thanksgiving routine that also benefits a good cause, then lace up your running shoes and come on down to the New Paltz NY 5K Turkey Trot!

You don't have to be runner or an athlete to participate in New Paltz NY's 5K Turkey Trot. The race welcomes runners, walkers, Mashed Potato kids, and everyone in between! And of course, all of those racers will need roaring crowds of spectators to cheer them on. So whether you're running or not your presence and support is appreciated! Last year's event attracted over 2,000 people and helped raise $35,000 to benefit the Family of New Paltz. Since 1970 this local crisis intervention center has been serving the community of New Paltz NY. Last year their food pantry served over 1,000 local families in need.
