Little Nancy Creek Park – Brookhaven’s Newest & Best Park!
Atlanta has many great neighborhoods, but sometimes the parks are limited if there are any. Tim Francis Realty was thrilled to see the addition of the Little Nancy Creek Park in 2008 to the Brookhaven Neighborhood. Little Nancy Creek Park is located just off Peachtree Dunwoody at Winall Down Rd in Brookhaven at 4012 Peachtree Dunwoody Rd NE, Atlanta, GA 30342. Brookhaven’s newest park offers literally something for everyone.
The Little Nancy Creek Park includes a wonderful Playground, a Little Children’s Nature Classroom, a Community Garden, an Active Living Station, a ¼ mile walking trail as well as numerous spots to play and hang out with friends.
The Community Garden was the first component with a fabulous “critter proof” fenced area that is growing all kinds of fruits and veggies. Beautiful Pumpkins abound right now. All of the twenty spots went quickly, but there is a waiting list for future gardeners you can get on. Contact Christy Roberts at marobe100@yahoo.com to get on the list.
Little Nancy Creek Park added the Playground next with fabulous equipment for young and older children. Check out the incredible slide and play structure as well as many swings, swirly rides and more. This state-of-the-art playground was designed and installed by Landscape Structures, recognized as one of the top playground companies in the country. It is the only playground of its kind in Atlanta.
Another favorite we have at the Little Nancy Creek Park is the Children’s Nature Classroom. This is part of the original home structure that stood at this location and works well as a classroom in nature. My favorite feature is the gorgeous fireplace. As you glance around you will see many birdhouses as well as countless creatures from nature.
The Active Living Station has just been completed. This is very cool. Thanks to an EcoMedia Partnership with Children's Healthare of Atlanta, United Healthcare's WellnessAd Avertising is funding the construction and installation. Here you can work through exercises using panels with the right equipment you need to do the exercises. Even more cool, you can use the Microsoft scan codes to access videos showing you how to use the stations! No excuses to not work out!
The ¼ mile walking trail loops throughout the property including OVER the creek. Warning about the trail is that you cannot take a stroller through the creek rock stepping stones. During the walk there are signs posted encouraging healthy behaviors – eating more fruits and veggies, drinking water.
Last but not least as a park feature, the parks namesake, the Little Nancy Creek itself. The rambling creek offers gorgeous nature views, a small water flow and some nice bridges to hang out on to check it all out. Numerous benches and places to play all overlook the creek.
A few logistics, there is parking, but it’s limited to about 12 cars. There are two port o johns bathrooms up near the Community Garden. Dogs are welcome on a leash, but should not be in the playground area. Please pick up after you pet. Multiple trash receptacles are available for your recyclables and your trash!
Where are you going to exercise, play and enjoy nature? In the heart of Brookhaven section of Buckhead, Tim Francis Realty recommends Little Nancy Creek Park!
