The TowneBank campus, located at front of The Riverfront at Harbour View community along Harbour View Boulevard in Suffolk, Virginia, has welcomed it’s newest addition, the 16,000 square foot TowneBank University. The Riverfront at Harbour View is an award winning, golf and waterfront community being developed by East West Partners of Virginia.

This impressive building, complete with interior rotunda, will provide a venue for seminars, meetings and classroom training for employees of the bank and it’s business family members, Prudential Towne Realty, Towne Investment Group, TownBank Mortgage, Towne Insurance and TFA Benefits.

“Towne University represents a milestone in the history of our Towne family and will serve as the cornerstone of the future development of our finance professionals,” said G. Robert Aston, Jr., Chairman and CEO. “The Bank’s investment in this extraordinary facility will lead to enhanced educational opportunities for all of our Towne family members as we continue to develop and mentor the very best bankers, real estate, insurance, mortgage and investment professionals found anywhere,” added Aston. 

The fast-growing institution, now Virginia’s largest community bank, arose from a group of “unemployed bankers” who gathered in Aston’s Portsmouth garage in 1998. The bankers had worked for another community bank, which in 1995 merged with BB&T, effectively putting them out of work. Just 14 years later, with current assets of $4.23 billion, TowneBank now operates 26 offices in Virginia and North Carolina and employes more than 1,500 people.
