How far are you willing to go?

Subway Man

While lunching at our favorite Subway, I looked up from my sandwich  to see this specimen exiting the establishment.

"What on earth is that", I asked Ralph.  He had missed it completely!  How one can overlook anything this bright and loud, I cannot understand.

When we left however, he managed to get the photo.  Guess that proved I was not hallucinating.

My first question is:  How uncomfortable is that costume?  How long does one have to wear it without a break?  How much are they paying for this not so traditional job?  How effective is this in bringing customers in?

With the unstable economy, now obviously destined to worsen,  how much will there be for Realtors to do?   Money uncertainty, housing availability and jobs becoming more scarce are all things that will affect our industry.

While we are getting creative about staying employed, what lengths are we  going to  be willing to go to?

This as untraditional and probably as uncomfortable as it is does at least come with a dependable pay check.  That is worth a great deal.  At least it will be as long as people can afford to buy sandwiches!

Food establishments seem to employ them a lot.  Many times they are working near intersections trying to entice customers to stop.

And what about the mascots at sporting events?  I have seen the 'hot dogs' working the bleachers at baseball, hockey games.

No, I don't plan to apply any time soon.

Glad Ralph got the picture so you could share.

Jeanne and Ralph, I guess I will have to get more creative on the internet because I am not going to wear a suit like that.

Jeanne I think the costumes are very effective given their widespread use.  I think I even read a post here on AR a while back that attributed a stop at a restaurant to the costumed character.

With regard to real estate, these days, without questions, we have to be able to go the extra mile.  If we don't, there are many that will.  Keep in mind though that the seemingly extra mile is often just a part of the service anyway.

Good morning, Jean and Ralph.... I think more unemployed people should take a page from the book of this employed soul....

We have a gent in a mattress suit that spends hours waving, jumping around at drivers for hours at a time.  It can't be that loves doing this but at least he and they are working and not just collecting and sitting at home.  I just hope I never have to find out if I could do that!  Have a great day.

I have a lot more respect for this person than I do for the ones that sit on their butt collecting unemployment because this job is beneath them.
